Join Mayor Mufi Hannemann at NIKETOWN Honolulu on Sunday, April 27, 2008, and bring your old tennies with you! Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program recycles worn-out sneakers into material used in sports surfaces for young people around the world. Help us reach our 20,000 shoe goal!
Got school spirit? Enter the School Athletic Footwear Recycling Contest! Collect all the pairs you can between now and the end of April, and your school could win a Nike Equipment package. Bring your sneakers to NIKETOWN between 9:00am-1:00pm. Curbside drop-off is available on Kalaimoku (between Kuhio and Kalakaua). School winners will be announced at 2:00pm; a representative must be present to win.
Categories (one winning school per category):
- Small school participation (less than 350 students)
- Medium school participation (351-650 students)
- Large school participation (651- more students)
Turn your worn-out sneaks into wearable art! Enter the Creative Kicks Art Contest for the chance to win a brand new pair. Drop off your creations at NIKETOWN between 9:00am-12:00pm. Winners will be announced at 1:00pm. Open to everyone, keiki to adult. One winner per family; you must be present to win.
Categories (top three winners will be recognized in each category):
- Kindergarten - 4th grade
- 5th-8th grade
- 9th-12th grade
- Adult Division
